FORT SMITH, Arkansas – Henderson State fended off Arkansas Tech and Harding to win the 2025 Great American Conference Men’s Golf Championships from Hardscrabble Country Club, the Reddies’ fourth-straight team title. The Wonder Boys’ Landon Lawson won the medalist title by two shots.

At various points of the round, the Wonder Boys, Bisons and Reddies all held sole possession of  the lead. The Reddies caught and passed the Bisons thanks to an even-par back nine. Jacob Knowlton and Maxime Lam provided hot starts as each played the opening nine holes in 3-under par. Both eagled the par-5 third hole. Lam finished third overall. Knowlton and Ethan Wilkins shared sixth place. Philipp Pakosch recorded a 3-over 73 to finish in a tie for ninth.

Lawson became the fourth Wonder Boy to win the individual title. His final-round 2-under par 68 made him the first golfer in GAC Championship history to break 70 in all three rounds. He made four birdies against two bogeys. He led the field in par-3 scoring, 2.80. GAC Freshman of the Year Tobey Kim collected five birdies as part of a 1-under 69. He placed solo fifth. Jacob Peetoom and Shaun Jones both eagled the third hole en route to top-15 finishes.

The Bisons mounted a furious charge on the front nine before falling back to a tie for second with the Wonder Boys. All five Bisons broke par on the front nine, headlined by 2024 GAC Medalist Dennis Staykov’s blistering 7-under 28. He played the five-hole stretch between the third and seventh holes in 7-under. Two back-nine birdies pushed his round to 9-under before three closing bogeys left him with a 6-under 64 round – still, the lowest round in GAC Championship history. Christian Lindgreen birdied five of the opening six holes as part of a 3-under round that resulted in second-place showing. Jose Arzu and Finlay Cummings added 1-under 69s. GAC Player of the Year Jose Peralta carded four birdies as part of a 1-over 71.

Southern Arkansas produced the second-lowest round of the day, an 8-under 272. Blane Burk picked up six birdies against just two bogeys as his 4-under 66 moved him up to fourth place. Luke Cote birdied the first three holes and shot a 3-under 67.  Logan McDonald carded a matching 3-under round.

Northwestern Oklahoma State’s Pierce Geminden capped a top-10 week with a 2-over 72. Following a double bogey on the 10th hole, he rattled off four straight back-nine birdies. Southeastern Oklahoma State finished ninth.

The Reddies captured the GAC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Central/Midwest Regional at the St. Joseph Country Club  in St. Joseph, Missouri. The Bisons, Muleriders and Wonder Boys all appeared inside the top 10 of the most recent region rankings. The NCAA announces the field on Friday.
