NORMAN – For the third time in her career, University of Oklahoma junior gymnast Katherine LeVasseur has been named the Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
In a challenging road environment that featured more than 12,000 fans at LSU, LeVasseur recorded a season-high 9.925 to help the Sooners to a win over the then-13th-ranked Tigers. It was her fourth career title on vault and first this season. LeVasseur has earned nine career event titles.
A three-time All-Big 12 honoree (vault, bars and beam) and 2022 Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection, this marks LeVasseur’s third career weekly conference honor and seventh overall Big 12 accolade.
LeVasseur is the fourth Sooner to win a weekly award this season, joining Jordan Bowers (Gymnast of the Week), Ava Siegfeldt (Event Specialist of the Week) and Faith Torrez (Newcomer of the Week), who each were recognized following OU’s win at the Super Six in Las Vegas.
OU opens its home slate Sunday, Jan. 22, at 6:45 p.m. CT against No. 5 Utah inside Lloyd Noble Center. Utah finished third at last year’s NCAA Championships. The meet will be broadcast nationally on ESPN. Season tickets start at just $25 and individual meet tickets are as low as $5, and can be purchased at SoonerSports.com/tickets.
