NORMAN — Sixth-ranked Oklahoma men’s golf is set to open postseason play at the program’s first SEC Championship, held April 23-27, at Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Ga. The Sooners will compete for their 20th conference title overall and fourth under head coach Ryan Hybl.

The tournament begins Wednesday with 54 holes of stroke play through Friday, followed by match play for the top eight teams on Saturday and Sunday. Match play rounds will be broadcast on SEC Network and SECN+.

One of the nation’s most dominant golf programs over the past decade, Oklahoma has won 38 tournaments since 2015, including the 2017 national championship. The Sooners have advanced to a program-record 13 consecutive NCAA Championships and have been a top-10 national seed in each of the last six. Since the start of the 2021-22 season, OU leads all SEC programs with 19 stroke-play tournament victories.

Ryan Hybl, Oklahoma’s winningest coach, has led the Sooners to 13 straight NCAA Finals, a 2017 national title and 47 tournament wins, fourth most among active coaches. Since taking over in 2009, he’s coached 14 Sooners to 30 All-America honors and won three conference titles. The 2022 Dave Williams National Coach of the Year, Hybl was inducted into the GCAA Hall of Fame in 2024. Before arriving at OU, he helped Georgia (his alma mater) to four straight top-10 NCAA finishes and the 2006 and 2009 SEC titles as an assistant coach.

Oklahoma owns four team wins this season, tied for the second most in the NCAA, and holds a 120-24-4 record. Ranked sixth nationally, the Sooners have beaten every team ranked ahead of them at least once. Led by No. 7-ranked Jase Summy, OU brings a deep, experienced lineup to Georgia, with over 400 combined collegiate rounds in their careers. That veteran presence will be key as they face the nation’s toughest field, which includes 10 of the top 25 teams (six in the top 10) and 25 of the top 50 individual players.
