SAN MARCOS, Texas – Senior Reagan Chaney tied for second and Oklahoma women’s golf concluded the Jim West Challenge at Kissing Tree Golf Club Monday, finishing third (20-under, 844). The Sooners finished one stroke back of Houston and two strokes behind TCU.
Chaney led the OU lineup, concluding competition tied for second with a 9-under 207. After carding 68-71 rounds on Sunday, Chaney started play in the third round with a birdie on the first hole. The Ardmore, Okla., product tallied two additional birdies on the third and seventh holes, followed by back-to-back bogies on the 12th and 13th. Chaney finished the round with three birdies on the final three holes, recording a 4-under 68.
“We had a solid week as a team, and I am pleased with how we performed,” said Oklahoma head women’s golf coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. “I’m very proud of Reagan, Gracie and MaKayla for putting together three great rounds and earning top-10 finishes.”
Junior Gracie Mayo tied for eighth, carding rounds of 71-67-71. Mayo recorded three birdies in the third round and finished the two-day event 7-under 209.
Freshman Audrey Rischer tied for 22nd (1-under, 215) and recorded an even-par 72 after rounds of 68-75 on Sunday. Rischer tallied five birdies on the day, including back-to-back birdies on the 17th and 18th holes.
Juniors Savannah Barber and Isabelle Schlick tied for 32nd (2-over, 218). Barber started the final round with consecutive bogies before moving to even with a pair of birdies on the fifth and seventh holes. The Fort Worth, Texas, product tallied three birdies on the back nine, recording five in the final round and carding a 1-under 71. Schlick totaled six birdies in the third round and moved up 11 spots.
Junior MaKayla Tyrrell, competing as an individual, finished seventh (8-under, 208). Tyrrell began the final day with a double bogey before tallying four birdies to reach even par 72 in the round.
