RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the women’s and men’s cross country runners of the week for the second week of the 2024 season. Ouachita Baptist’s Izzi Breaux claimed the women’s honor while the Tigers’ Lawson Sanders earned the men’s award.
#theGAC WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK – Izzi Breaux, Sr., Ouachita Baptist, Longview, Texas
Breaux led the Tigers to a team title at the Argonaut Invitational. She won the individual competition after she finished almost 21 seconds ahead of her closest contender. She completed the 5K course in a time of 19:22.5. The Tigers placed nine runners inside the top 10 to register a team total of 17 points and win the event by 29 points.
#theGAC MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK – Lawson Sanders, Sr., Ouachita Baptist, Fort Worth, Texas
Sanders finished as the top Tiger at the Argonaut Invitational. He placed second with an 8K time of 26:45.2 for his second-straight top-five showing of the season. Ouachita won their second-consecutive event after nine Tigers finished inside the top 15. The Tigers scored 22 points, 33 clear of second-place West Florida.
