RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s opening Golfers of the Week awards for 2021. Arkansas Tech’s Santiago De Valle claimed the Men’s honor and Oklahoma Baptist’s Hayden Meiser earned the Women’s accolade.
GAC MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Santiago De Valle, Arkansas Tech, Fr., Mexico City, Mexico
In his first collegiate tournament, De Valle led the Wonder Boys to a runner-up showing the Houston Classic. He finished the tournament as one of only four players in the 49-player event under par after carding rounds of 71, 73 and 71 to post a 1-under par score.
GAC WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Hayden Meiser, Oklahoma Baptist, Jr., Norman, Oklahoma
Meiser placed as the top golfer for the Bison at the UCM Southern Invitational. She finished the tournament tied for eighth with a 36-hole total of 14-over par 158. She posted a 5-over 77 in the second round to move up from 12th. She led the Bison to a fifth-place result.
