RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the GAC men’s and women’s cross country runners of the week for the fifth weekend of the season. East Central’s Donald Kipsang and Winnie Kipsang won the respective awards following their performances at the Chile Pepper Festival.

#theGAC MEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK – Donald Kipsang, So., East Central, Eldoret, Kenya
Kipsang led the Tigers after he clocked a time of 24:41.8 in the 8K to finish 26th overall, seventh among Division II runners. For the third-straight meet, Kipsang finished as the top Tiger. The 30-team event featured 12 Division I runners. The Tigers placed seventh overall.

#theGAC WOMEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK – Winnie Kipsang, Jr., East Central, Eldoret, Kenya
Kipsang registered a career-best 5K time of 17:30.4 as she finished 35th overall in the field of 269 competitors. She cut almost 15 seconds of her prior fastest time.  She placed third individually among Division II runners, just two seconds behind the top DII finisher. The Tigers claimed sixth among the Division II teams.
