RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced its second GAC men’s indoor track & field athletes of the week winners. Harding swept the honors as Caledon Ruwende garnered the track award and Vlad Malykhin earned the field accolade.

At the Samford Invitational, Ruwende won the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.10 seconds. The event featured seven Division I runners inside the top 10. He broke Dakarai Bush’s school record by more than two-tenths of a second. The time ranks third in NCAA Division II. He added a sixth-place finish in the 60 and ran the second leg of the 4×400-meter relay team.

#theGAC FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Vlad Malykhin, Sr., Harding, Shostka, Ukraine
Malykhin made his season debut at the Samford Invitational. He won the pole vault with a clearance of 5.26 meters on his first attempt. He finished two-tenths of a meter ahead of second place. The three-time indoor national champion moved into second place in Division II with the effort.
