RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the women’s golfer of the week for the fifth week of the fall season. Harding’s Dennis Staykov claimed the men’s honor and Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Maria Velilla captured the women’s award.

#theGAC MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Dennis Staykov, Jr., Harding, Sofia, Bulgaria
Staykov finished second at the Battle for the Belt to lead the Bisons to a third-place finish. He opened with a 1-under par 71. He followed with a 5-under 57 and a bogey-free 3-under 69. He made 13 birdies for the event. His 3.90 scoring average on par-4s led the 71-player field.

#theGAC WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Maria Velilla, Fr., Southwestern Oklahoma State, Calatayud, Spain
Velilla helped the Bulldogs claim third at the Newman Fall Invitational. She finished as one of two players under par at 1-under. She made two birdies in her first round as part of a 1-under round. Her second round featured three front-nine birdies. She carded more pars than any golfer in the field and added five birdies—tied for the third-most in the 65-player field.
