RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. –  On Thursday, the GAC/MIAA Men’s Soccer Championships begins with its four top teams vying for an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. For the second time in program history, Fort Hays State hosts by virtue of winning the regular-season championship. The event begins on Thursday with two semifinal contests from FHSU Soccer Stadium in Hays, Kansas.

In the opening match, set for 3 p.m., the top-seeded Tigers face Northeastern State. As part of its undefeated season, Fort Hays State defeated the RiverHawks twice – 5-1 at home on September 24 and 3-2 in Tahlequah on October 18. Both teams appear in the most recent Super Region rankings. Fort Hays remained the top-ranked team while Northeastern State claimed 10th. The two last met at the GAC/mIAA Championships in the 2021 final. The Tigers won, 2-0, for their first tournament title.

In the second semifinal, No. 2 Rogers State faces Newman. The Hillcats defeated the Jets, 3-1, on October 4. The two tied, 1-1, on October 23. Rogers State owns an 11-0-1 record in its last 12 meetings with Newman. The two have never met at the GAC/MIAA Championships. Rogers State enters the GAC/MIAA Championships ranked third in the Super Region #3 rankings.
