RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the men’s soccer players of the week for the ninth week of the 2024 season. Rogers State’s Erik Hjertsson claimed the Offensive Player of the Week honor; Southern Nazarene’s Esteban Ramirez and Andrej Krivokapic earned the Defender and Goalkeeper of the Week accolade.

#theGAC/MIAA MEN’S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Erik Hjertsson, F, Rogers State, Sr., Malmo, Sweden
Hjertsson led the Hillcats in a win against Newman and a draw against No. 17 Fort Hays State. In the 5-2 win against the Jets, he gave the Hillcats a 2-0 lead with a 52nd-minute tally and assisted on their final goal in the contest’s final minute. Against the Tigers, Hjertsson scored the equalizing goal in the 1-1 draw in the 34rd minute.

#theGAC/MIAA MEN’S SOCCER DEFENDER OF THE WEEK – Esteban Ramirez, D, Southern Nazarene, Gr., Dallas, Texas
Ramirez anchored a defense that registered consecutive shutouts to move the Crimson Storm into first place with one regular-season contest remaining. In a 3-0 win against Ouachita Baptist, the Southern Nazarene defense did not allow a single shot on goal. He assisted on Lucas Beja’s goal. In a 3-0 victory against Harding, the allowed surrendered just two shots on goal.

#theGAC/MIAA MEN’S SOCCER GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK – Andrej Krivokapic, GK, Southern Nazarene, So., Niksic, Montenegro
Krivokapic lowered his goals-against average to a league-leading 1.12 after he did not allow a goal to either Ouachita Baptist or Harding in 146 minutes of action. He made two saves against the Bisons. His save percentage of .773 continues to lead the conference.
