RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the GAC/MIAA men’s soccer players of the week for the opening weekend of the season. Newman’s Gabriel Dias Juliani won the Offensive Player honor while Rogers State’s Artur Carvalho and Jaxon Kendall earned the Defensive Player and Goalkeeper honors, respectively.

Diass Juliani registered a hat trick in the Jets’ 3-2 victory against Oklahoma Christian. He scored twice within a one-minute span of the first half when he scored off an assist from Daiki Okada in the 10th minute. His second goal came courtesy an assist from his brother, Gabriel Dias Juliani. He completed the hat trick on a 60th-minute header.

#theGAC/MIAA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Artur Carvalho, D, Rogers State, Sr., Faro, Portugal
Carvalho helped the Hillcats open with a win and a draw after he played the full 90 minutes in road contests against No. 4 McKendree and Maryville. The Hillcat defense limited the Bearcats to just seven shots, and five on target. In the shutout of Maryville, the Hillcats held the Saints to just five shots on goal.

#theGAC/MIAA GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK – Jaxon Kendall, GK, Rogers State, Jr., Owasso, Oklahoma
In his first two career starts, Kendall surrendered just one goal across the Hillcats’ season-opening matches with No. 4 McKendree and Maryville. He made four saves against the Bearcats. He collected his first-career shutout after he came up with five saves against the Saints.
