RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the volleyball players of the week for the sixth week of the 2024 season. Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Lacy Mott and Samantha Kuzma captured the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors. Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Ruthie Forson won Setter of the Week.
#theGAC VOLLEYBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Lacy Mott, OH, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Sr., Waxahachie, Texas
Mott averaged 5.36 kills per set and 5.91 points per set as the Bulldogs defeated Southern Nazarene, Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello to move into a tie for first place. She registered 22 kills against both the Crimson Storm and Muleriders and she notched double-doubles against SAU and UAM. She hit at least .432 in all three wins.
#theGAC VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Samantha Kuzma, MH, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Sr., Portland, Texas
Kuzma averaged 1.18 blocks per set in SWOSU’s three GAC victories. She collected four blocks and four digs in a four-set win against Southern Nazarene. She followed up with seven digs and seven blocks against Southern Arkansas. She finished with seven digs and two blocks against Arkansas-Monticello.
#theGAC VOLLEYBALL SETTER OF THE WEEK – Ruthie Forson, S, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Gr., Denton, Texas
Forson tallied 38 assists and hit .500 against Austin College. In their first home win against Harding since 2014, she doled out 35 assists and amassed 10 kills in a sweep. In a five-set win against Arkansas Tech, she registered the first quadruple double in league history – 44 assists, 14 digs, 13 kills and 10 blocks. She reached the 3,000-assist plateau against the Golden Suns.
