RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the women’s and men’s golfers of the week for the first full week of the fall season. Henderson State’s Felisa Sajulga won the women’s honor for the opening tournament. The Reddies’ Lily Nelson earned the award for this week while Harding’s Jose Manuel Peralta claimed the men’s accolade.
#theGAC WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Felisa Sajulga, Sr., Henderson State, College Station, Texas
Sajulga captured the individual medalist honor at the Central Region Fall Preview in Blue Springs, Missouri. An opening-round 1-over par 73 placed her in a tie for fifth. In the second round, she carded a 1-under round to overcome a three-shot deficit. The Reddies finished third in the 17-team event.
#theGAC WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Lily Nelson, Jr., Henderson State, Commerce City, Colorado
Nelson finished in a tie for second at the NSU Women’s Classic. After a 3-over 74 first round, she bounced back with a 6-under 65 to climb 20 spots up the leaderboard. She made five birdies and an eagle in her second round. She helped the Reddies move up from eighth to fourth in the 19-team event.
#theGAC MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Jose Manuel Peralta, Jr., Harding, Madrid, Spain
Peralta registered rounds of even-par 70 and back-to-back 1-under 69s to lead the Bisons to a fifth-place showing at the season-opening event, The Mule. He tied for fifth to record the second top-five finish of his career. He made 12 birdies and one eagle over the course of the tournament.
