RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the women’s soccer players of the week for the fifth week of the 2024 season. Oklahoma Baptist’s Olivia Kenas claimed the Offensive Player and Defender of the Week accolades. Ouachita Baptist’s Carina Chavarria earned Goalkeeper of the Week.

Kenas registered the first brace of her career after scoring twice in the Bison’s 4-0 win against East Central on Wednesday. In the 19th minute, she opened the scoring when she headed home a corner kick from Alanna Bloomingdale. In the 79th minute, she converted a penalty kick.

Defensively, Kenas played an instrumental role in limiting East Central to just 10 shots – three on target – in the 4-0 win. She played the full 90 minutes in the victory. The Bison improved to 2-0-1 in league play and registered their third shutout in their last four contests.
#theGAC WOMEN’S SOCCER GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK – Carina Chavarria, GK, Ouachita Baptist, Sr., Mansfield, Texas
Chavarria totaled 10 saves in contests against Northwestern Oklahoma State and Southwestern Oklahoma State. She made four in a 1-1 draw against the Rangers. She recorded her first-career shutout in a 3-0 victory against the Bulldogs. She came up with a career-high six saves.
