RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the sixth women’s track & field athletes of the week for the indoor season. Oklahoma Baptist’s Sophia Strange won the Track award and the Bison’s Jamora Horace earned the Field honor.

#theGAC WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Sophia Strange, Sr., Oklahoma Baptist, Houston, Texas
Strange won the 3,000-meter run at the Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic. Her winning time, 9:38.16, earned her an NCAA Provisional time and established a meet record. She won the event by more than 11 seconds. She ran the 1,600-meter leg of the Distance Medley Relay team that broke a 10-year school record with an NCAA Provisional time of 11:41.45.

#theGAC WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Jamora Horace, Jr., Oklahoma Baptist, Fort Worth, Texas
Horace took second in the high jump at the Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic. Her jump of 1.75 meters, a personal best, earned her an NCAA provisional mark. It ranks as the top jump in the conference and stands as the eighth-best mark in the nation currently.
