RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the GAC women’s soccer players of the week for the seventh week of the season. Harding’s Whitney Thomas won the Offensive Player honor while Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Julie Andersen and Lexi Johnson claimed the Defensive Player and Goalkeeper awards.

#theGAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Whitney Thomas, F, Harding, Sr., Benbrook, Texas
Thomas scored her third goal of the season when she converted a penalty kick against Ouachita Baptist as part of a 2-0 Lady Bisons win. The goal ended a personal nine-game scoreless drought for Thomas. The win pushed the Lady Bisons into a tie for third place.

#theGAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Julie Andersen, D, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Sr., Middelfart, Denmark
Andersen played the full 90 minutes in the Bulldogs’ scoreless draw against Northwestern Oklahoma State and 1-0 win against Southern Nazarene. SWOSU held Northwestern to 11 shots and Southern Nazarene to four shots on goal. The Bulldogs have five shutouts on the season.

#theGAC GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK – Lexi Johnson, GK, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Fr., Weatherford, Oklahoma
In her first two starts of the season, she registered shutouts against Northwestern Oklahoma State and Southern Nazarene that left the Bulldogs as the lone unbeaten team in the GAC. She made eight saves in a scoreless draw with the Rangers. She made four saves in a 1-0 road win against the Crimson Storm.
