NORMAN — The Oklahoma wrestling team rounded out its 2024 signing class Friday with the addition of Jacob Henry, who signed a letter of acceptance with the Sooners.
Henry, a freestyle heavyweight state champion out of Texas, recently capped a 37-win senior season at Vandergrift High School with a UIL 6A 285-pound state runner-up finish. A multi-sport athlete, Henry also competed in football and track and field, earning a three-star rating from 247 Sports as a defensive lineman and achieving notable shot-put throws of 50-7 and 50-6 to secure a top-four state finish. Henry completes head coach Roger Kish‘s first full recruiting class, which ranks No. 15 in the nation by FloWrestling, boasts numerous all-area, all-state and All-America honors, as well as state championships.
“Jacob’s work ethic and competitive nature are qualities that fit into the culture that we’re building here,” Kish said. “I’m excited to watch him grow and develop at the next level.”
The Austin, Texas native is the son of WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry, a three-time U.S. National Weightlifting Champion and two-time Olympian.
