NORMAN – Oklahoma men’s gymnastics sophomore Ignacio Yockers was named the MPSF Specialist of the Week and Colin Flores was named Freshman of the Week after leading the Sooners to wins over No. 6 Ohio State and Arizona State Saturday night at McCasland Field House, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Yockers won the pommel horse title with a 14.700, his second-highest pommel horse score this season. The Tulsa, Okla., product is ranked first nationally on pommel horse with his 14.633 three-score average. He has recorded three consecutive scores of at least 14.250 on pommel horse, with a high of 14.950 on Jan. 20.

Flores won the all-around title Saturday night with a score of 80.300. It was the second all-around score above 80 in as many tries by the true freshman. He notched a career high on vault (14.550) and tied his career high on parallel bars (14.200) to win the p-bars event title. The Mountain House, Calif., product is one of only two gymnasts nationally to register two all-around scores of 80 or higher this season.

This is the second MPSF weekly award this season for both Yockers and Flores and the sixth career for Yockers. Oklahoma gymnasts have now won seven MPSF weekly awards this season. Junior Emre Dodanli was named Specialist of the Week on Jan. 16 and Jan. 30. On Jan. 23, redshirt sophomore Fuzzy Benas was named MPSF Gymnast of the Week, Yockers was named MPSF Specialist of the Week and Flores was named Freshman of the Week.

Oklahoma will compete at McCasland Field House again Saturday against MPSF foe California. The meet is set for a 1:45 p.m. start.
