He also held the titles of interim director of ticket operations, assistant athletics director for administration and planning, and senior associate athletics director/chief of staff.
"We are thrilled to welcome Marcus and his family to Oklahoma," said Castiglione. "He's joining our department having gained extensive financial management experience at both the University of Pittsburgh and UNLV, which makes him uniquely qualified to take on this role as a member of our senior leadership team.
"Now more than ever, our financial and business operations are critical and I'm confident that Marcus possesses the skill that will enhance our mission of creating a world-class experience for our student-athletes. Throughout the process, it became abundantly clear that his authenticity, passion and vision align seamlessly with the values of Oklahoma and the OU Athletics Department."
Bowman earned his bachelor's degree from Pitt in 2006 in business administration (cum laude) with an emphasis in finance and a concentration in communication. He earned his master's degree from Pitt in 2010 in business administration.
"I am humbled and excited for the opportunity to join the Sooner family," said Bowman. "Under the remarkable leadership of Joe Castiglione, Oklahoma has set the standard for excellence in college athletics. I would like to thank him and the entire search committee for inviting me to join one of the nation's elite college athletics programs. I am excited to move my family to Norman and look forward to working with coaches and staff to build upon the strong financial foundation that is already in place to support OU student-athletes in achieving their academic, athletic and personal aspirations at the highest level."
Bowman was a student-athlete on Pitt's men's basketball team for four years (2002-03 through 2005-06), earning a full academic scholarship to the university. Originally from Columbia, S.C., he and his wife Rhea, have two children, Brooke (6) and Lucas (3).

Kansas (and Former Pitt) Athletics Director
"I am thrilled and proud to see one of our Pitt student-athletes earn a position with my friend Joe Castiglione at OU. Marcus distinguished himself early on as a gritty basketball player, a high-achieving business student and eventually as a valued member of our athletic business office. Marcus is an outstanding addition to OU and the Big 12 Conference."
TCU (and Former Pitt) Head Men's Basketball Coach
"I'm really excited for Marcus and his wife, Rhea, and their children. As a player at Pitt, he was tough, smart and a winner. As an administrator at Pitt, he was smart, outgoing and a good decision-maker. I've known Marcus for 20 years and have watched him grow from a student to a husband, to a father, to a senior associate athletic director and CFO, and now he'll be working with one of the most respected athletic directors in the country in Joe Castiglione. It's a perfect match. Marcus has all the qualities that will lead to him becoming an athletic director in the future."
