Gibson Earns CoSIDA Academic All-America Honors Razorbacks Communications

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas senior Danielle Gibson earned Second Team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Tuesday. Gibson is the seventh Razorback softball student-athlete and first since 2014 to garner Academic All-America recognition.

CoSIDA Academic All-America teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Gibson completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology and minored in Human Development and Family Science, finishing with a 3.51 grade-point average.

Last week, Gibson became the first two-time All-American in program history after being named a First Team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

Gibson set single-season school records in batting average (.445), hits (81), RBI (70) and total bases (155) during the 2022 season. She was previously selected as a Top 10 Finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year along with racking up NFCA First Team All-South Region, First Team All-SEC and SEC All-Defensive team honors. The Murrieta, Calif., product’s 70 RBIs and 155 total bases paced the conference while she ranked second in hits. Gibson led the SEC in RBI (33) and total bases (65) during conference play and tied for first with 10 home runs. Gibson also became Arkansas’ all-time RBI and total bases leader in 2022.
