#theGAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jordyn Merrett, 1B, Ouachita Baptist, Jr., Wylie, Texas
After hitting one home run in her first 114 at bats of the season, Merrett hit five home runs in 11 at bats last week. She slugged 2.182 with an .857 on-base percentage. Four of the home runs came in the Tigers’ series with Henderson State. She hit a game-tying grand slam in game one, two home runs in game two and a three-run home run in the finale.
#theGAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Emma Duncan, RHP, Southern Arkansas, Gr., Salaberry-De-Valleyfield, Canada
Duncan threw 13.2-shutout innings across three appearances against Arkansas-Monticello. She threw a two-hit shutout in the opener with five strikeouts. She allowed just one hit over 2.2 innings of relief work in game two. She struck out eight in 4.0 innings of work in game three. She earned three wins to improve to 25-2. The 25 wins rank second in Division II.
