RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the GAC softball weekly awards for the fifth week of the season. Southern Arkansas’ America Rubio claimed Player of the Week and Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Alyson Malone scored Pitcher of the Week.

#theGAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – America Rubio, SS, Southern Arkansas, Gr., El Paso, Texas
Rubio helped the Muleriders secure their first-ever road sweep of Arkansas Tech as she went 7-for-12 in the three-game slate. She doubled and tripled in game one. She collected three hits and drove in seven runs as part of a 12-6 game two win. In the finale, she added two more hits, including a double, and her eighth RBI of the series.

#theGAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Alyson Malone, RHP, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Jr., Pottsboro, Texas
Malone matched the GAC record for longest no-hitter, by innings, when she threw a 9.0-inning gem against Southern Nazarene on Saturday. She struck out eight and she faced just two batters above the minimum. She threw the Savage Storm’s first no-hitter since 2024. She added 1.2 innings of scoreless relief in game one of the series.
