Winkfield went 4-for-9 with two home runs as the Golden Suns opened league play with a sweep of Northwestern Oklahoma State. In the opener, she hit a solo home run and added a two-run double. In game two, she hit a first-inning home run and added a third-inning single.
#theGAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Greenlee Wells, SS, Oklahoma Baptist, Sr., Vian, Oklahoma
Wells helped the Bison to a sweep of Arkansas-Monticello after she reached base 11 times in 12 plate appearances. She went 3-for-4 with six walks to two hit by pitches. In game one, she homered in the first inning and hit a game-winning home run in the bottom of the seventh. She added two stolen bases. Her 10 home runs and 32 RBI lead Division II.
#theGAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Jenny Shank, RHP, Arkansas Tech, Fr., Brownsville, Texas
Shank picked up her collegiate win as the Golden Suns and completed the sweep of the Rangers with a one-hit shutout in the series finale. She carried a no-hitter into the top of the seventh inning before she surrendered a lead-off single. She struck out the game’s final two batters to finish with a season-high seven strikeouts.
