#theGAC SOFTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (WEEK FOUR)

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the softball players of the week for the fourth week of the 2024 season. Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Chesnie Hewitt earned Player of the Week while the Bulldogs’ Courtney Hill and Southern Nazarene’s Janie Worthington shared Pitcher of the Week.

#theGAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Chesnie Hewitt, UTL, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Jr., Delaware, Oklahoma
Hewitt hit a robust .714 in leading the Bulldogs to a series sweep of Ouachita Baptist. She homered in game one and drove in two runs. She doubled, stole a base and scored a run in game two. She went 2-for-2 with a stolen base and an RBI in the finale. She slugged 1.286 in the series. The Bulldogs have started 3-0 in league for the first time in program history. 

#theGAC SOFTBALL CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Janie Worthington, LHP, Southern Nazarene, Jr., Carnegie, Oklahoma
Worthington improved to 7-0 as she picked up four wins last week. In a doubleheader sweep of Newman, she struck out nine in a five-inning shutout and earned a win in relief in game two. She made two starts against Arkansas Tech and limited the Golden Suns to just one run across 10.0 innings of work. She struck out 12, walked only two and gave up only six hits.

#theGAC SOFTBALL CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Courtney Hill, LHP, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Sr., Fort Gibson, Oklahoma
Hill threw Southwestern Oklahoma State’s first no-hitter since March 15, 2019 and she earned her first win of the season. She logged five hitless innings and threw 65 pitches against Ouachita Baptist in game two of the series. She struck out a season-high six and walked two in an 8-0 run-rule win.
