RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the GAC softball weekly awards for the opening weekend of the season. Oklahoma Baptist’s Haley Hacker won Player of the Week while her teammate, Jaycee Shaffer, claimed Pitcher of the Week.

Hacker helped the Bison to their second 5-0 start in the last four seasons as she went 8-for-12 and reached base 13 times at the Lonestar Invite. She had three multi-hit games and scored a run in four of the contests. She hit a three-run home run and scored three times against Northwest Missouri State. She added a game-tying two-run home run against St. Edward’s.

#theGAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Jaycee Shaffer, RHP, Oklahoma Baptist, Sr., Cyril, Oklahoma
Shaffer picked up the win in all five of the Bison’s contests. She tossed 6.0 scoreless innings with six strikeouts against MSU Moorhead. She pitched the final 2.0 innings of their extra-inning affair with UT Dallas. She struck out eight in a complete-game win against Northwest. After a one-inning outing against Maryville, she again struck out eight as the Bison beat St. Edward’s.
