CAROLLTON, Texas — The Oklahoma men's golf team is set to play in the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational starting today at the par-72, 7,287-yard Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton, Texas.

Teams will play 18 holes Sunday-Tuesday to determine a 54-hole champion, as 12 universities compete against each other, with 40 unattached individuals playing in the separate, but concurrent, Maridoe Invitational.

The 12-team Collegiate Invitational features eight ranked teams, including the top four teams in the country, providing a preview of the upcoming East Lake Cup, where the Sooners will play Oct. 26-28.

"We're looking forward to being back on the road," Sooners' head coach Ryan Hybl said. "Maridoe will be a great field on a really difficult golf course. You truly have to control all of the aspects of your game in order to play well at Maridoe. This week will provide a great test and prep as we get ready for East Lake."

One individual will be given an exemption to the 2020 Houston Open. The exemption will be awarded at the sole discretion of Maridoe GC founder and owner, Albert D. Huddleston.

The Sooners are sending a lineup of five, in addition to a pair of individuals to Maridoe.

All-Americans Quade Cummins and Jonathan Brightwell will look to continue their hot start for the Sooners. Big 12 September Golfer of the Month Logan McAllister will tee it up for the Sooners after taking home medalist honors at Colonial and a perfect 5-0 at Big 12 Match Play. Patrick Welch and Riley Casey round out the Oklahoma lineup. Hybl's starting five have played a combined 224 rounds of competitive golf for the Sooners, with 62 of those rounds scoring in the 60s.

All Oklahoma starters aside from Brightwell competed at Maridoe this summer in the Southern Amateur Championship.

Redshirt senior Thomas Johnson and true freshman Ben Lorenz will compete as individuals at Maridoe.
