Attention! All musicians take heed. Finally a good chance to get rid of- cords, stands, P.A’s, guitars, drums, keyboards, bagpipes and all the stuff in bags or boxes cluttering up the place. The musicians Flea Market/Garage Sale will be coming to Downtown Poteau. Date to be determined but as soon as there is just a little more interest and response on fb, it will happen. Comment on my fb page and I’ll pass on your interest. Just like a flea Mkt. there will be a small fee for a 9×10 space and table. I am looking for another picker or two that , like me, has a few things. We could split the cost and get rid of all the stuff with dust on it or just too heavy to haul to every gig. Plus, just a good reason to visit with other active pickers. Maybe even a lil’ live music, too. Being a seasoned(old) musician, I survived all phases of playing on the weekend. From R&R in the 70’s, thru the heyday and revitalized era of Urban Cowboy to the current times of NS/ND dancehall and Restaurants with Live Combos. It has all been fun but some has been awful hard on the body and mind. I always thought that I needed something to help me play and sound better. But, I learned that what would help, was for me to use the talent that I had and just hard work and keep a clear head. I’ve had the pleasure of playing sober for 14 years now. Many musicians like me, could use a lil’ help changing their lifestyle and all that is required is a sincere desire and the effort to reach out for the help offered.
There are many recovery meetings in LeFlore County and a few rehab and treatment facilities. If you have family or friends in need or if you just want to help with the high cost of recovery, here’s a good chance to donate or be a part of a fundraiser/dinner for 6:33 Recovery. Live Music this week- Dawn’s Diner is Open. After some trouble caused by the week of Hard, Cold weather, the water is back on. Friday 9th, Paden Baggett will entertain from 7-10pm. Sat. 10th, Chance Noah will play and sing from 7-10pm for the first time at Dawn’s. You are in for a treat. So, get to Red Oak, dine, dance and enjoy this perfect weather.
“The Stagemasters” will take the stage at La Huertas/Poteau on Thursday 8th at 6pm. Then, Sat. 10th, you can hear them at the Mighty Crab on Rogers Ave. Music from 6-9pm. Both nites there will be Country music from “The Stagemasters” and an awesome meal. This band has the “Mama Wanda stamp of approval”.
“Shady Oak Tribadours” have a doubleheader this weekend starting at Ava’s at Fianna on Friday 9th, just take the Jenny Lind exit/I-540. Music from 8-11pm. Sat. 10th, they will be playing at the Avoca VFW from 6-10pm. This band is the finest in “Coastal and Western”.
“South 49” will bring their Red Dirt/Southern rock sound to Poteau at La Huertas. Sat. 10th will be a good chance to dine and listen to this band. Music starts at 6 pm.
“Bourbon Rain” will play for the Friday 9th Valentine Day dance at Ft. Smith Senior Activity Center on Cavanaugh Rd. They are a favorite here. Music starts at 6pm. Bring a card, candy and your Valentine date to this dance. This Sat. 10th, “Rhythm Coalition” will be on Garrison Ave. at Hero’s Pub. Awesome band and venue. Music kicks off at 8pm. Get your groove on to their unique sound.
Muldrow City Limits will host the Valentine’s Day dance this Sat. 10th. Bring your Valentine and dance to the sounds of “Wess is More”. Wesley Trout fronts this band and always has a great show. Music starts at 7pm. Big crowds(100+) show up at this dancehall so get there early for a good seat.
