At long last, a Musicians Flea Market
Well, I narrowly escaped another Valentine’s Day without one card. That’s a good thing, too. Somebody asked if I had a Valentine this year? NO and I didn’t have a Ground Hawg last month either. The April’s Fools holiday, I think got that one covered.
Speaking of the weather. Ya gotta love Oklahoma Winter’s. Frosty at sunrise and 72* at Noon. There will be outside events starting in late April. I just got word from Robert Wright that the Red Barn Farms Gospel Singing starts back. Awesome family entertainment. It’s a front porch singing with lawn chairs required. The Wright Family would like a chance to bring their music to your church. Then, ya got Crocky’s that’s been serving lunch outside on warm days. They have dusted off the stage getting prepared. I hear tell of a show being planned at the Reynolds Center in May with several bands. And according to Zoe Moreno, the Coffee Cup will be starting Open Mic and live music soon, too. So, Spring is just around the corner and Live Music is in the air. “Hillbilly Vegas” got home from the England Tour this week. No more fish and chips and kidney pie, it’s BBQ and Tex-Mex food, baby! It was a success and the band gathered beaucoup fans and followers. They were promoted as the Southern/Rock/Americana powerhouse from Oklahoma. Reviews were all positive. The band has had several singles hit the Top Ten in England. But now it’s home for rest from life on the road. Only one hitch in the tour, one nite a sore throat caused a problem. But if ya think about it, London is just a few miles from being as close to the North Pole as Anchorage. So a cold can be expected. Back in Oklahoma, they can rest, write new songs, record a few and get recharged. They are living the dream.
This is my last chance to mention the Musicians Flea Market that is taking place on Monday 26th. It’s in the Poteau Mainstreet Event Center at 307 Dewey Ave, just across the street from Warehouse Willies. It will be like any flea mkt. With a small fee for a 9×9 space, bring your own tables and chairs. It will be open from 10am til 4pm.
Plenty of parking. Rain or shine. Bring your used gear and make a buck. For info call 918-644-4935.
Just a reminder, because this month has come and went, I need March schedules from all bands and venues by Feb. 22nd to make the deadline. I’ll do my part to promote you and inform your fans. You do your part and get me your schedules.
Finally, Live Music this Week- Dawn’s Diner/Red Oak is back in the groove. Serving great, affordable supper and providing awesome music for the dancers. On Friday 23rd, “Make It a Double” will take the stage and they always play your favorites. Connie and Dave Abbott cover Classic Country and do take a request now and again. On Sat. 24th, Mychell Lee Allen will play and sing his style of Red Dirt/Country. It’s always a good time. Make plans to be there. Music on both nites go from 7-10pm.
“Red Dirt Duo” will entertain on Friday 23rd at the Ft. Smith Senior Activity Center on Cavanaugh Rd. Expect a good turnout cause it’s also Pot Luck Supper nite and February birthdays are being celebrated, Music begins at 7pm.
The Hottest Dance Hall around is Muldrow City Limits. Expect another big turnout cause “The MidWestern Playboys” will be making the music. Mac Moad/bass and James Glen Loveless/Guitar makeup the frontline of this band and play the very best in Country Dance music. Get there early. The doors open at 6pm and the music starts at 7pm. “South 49” will be in Arkansas on Sat. 24th at the New Blaine post 8383 VFW. The music kicks off at 8pm. See ya there. That ain’t all that I got to say but it’s a good place to stop. Support Live Music when ya can. Contact me at text 918-649-5736 or tj.wiles61@outlook.com. Thanks
