Love and Charity

This is my 1st chance to mention what a wonderful, entertaining, the show of love and the charitable offering of talents from our area’s musicians for the Benefit for Stephen’s Children on the first weekend of the year. I got to hear the start of the benefit and watched Mac and Ronny Moad take time to shake hands with every musician that played and thanked them for helping. Awesome show of gratitude from the brothers for the Moad family. I heard “The Nikki Waters Band” perform a couple of sets of tunes. Enjoyable as always. Then, “The MidWestern Playboys/Randall George” ran thru a warm up set that was blistering at times and soulful on the slow tunes. I have always admired a Frontman that sang and played bass, too. Mac Moad does a first rate job of it. Awesome voice, too. I really wish that I could’ve stayed longer. They did an 8 pm set later. The rest of Friday nite was packed with talent. Sat and Sunday time slots of the 10 hour event was full of bands, solos, sit-ins and everybody that Mac could fit together on stage. The only complaint was from a couple of musicians that just didn’t get their chance to play but they showed up for support anyway. What a great turnout for this benefit. I know that their offering of time and talents were appreciated. It was a showing of love and charity that makes me proud of our area’s musicians. I know that the Moad Family says Thanks. If ya didn’t get a chance to make it, there still a way to make a donation. Mail it to: Mac Moad 112368 S. 4770 Road, Muldrow OK. 74948 Attn: Benefit Donations.

Attention: Songwriters! Working on a get-together for songwriters to showcase their writing talents. Gonna try to make it a Sat. or Sunday afternoon, maybe a couple of seasoned writers that can explain their process and play a tune or two. Then, take questions for a while about it. Followed by a couple of hours it could be a chance for everybody to sing and play a couple of their best tunes. So looking at 2-3 hours of getting to know other songwriters, pick up tips and maybe create an opportunity to collaborate on songs still in the works. Watch here for more info.

I’m putting this article together at 5 am on Thursday 9th. AND we are looking for somewhere between 2 and 12 inches of snow. I got milk, eggs, sugar and vanilla for snow Ice Cream! Just remember NOT to eat the yellow snow. Some closings from dance halls are to be expected for the travel safety of the regulars. Ya know, I can’t remember the clubs closing back in the day. Drove over the mt. past Skyline Drive to Lou’s Triangle Club to play with 6 to 8 inches of snow occasionally. But we learned to drive on slick and muddy backroads. Good experience that I have used thru the rest of my life.

Live Music this Week: “The SideKicks Band” will be performing at the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame. It will be at the Muskogee Civic Center instead due to remodeling at the Museum. This will be on Thursday 16th from 7-9 pm. This newly formed band has a great show. There’s lots of seating and tables, a cash bar and it’s still only $5 to enjoy it all. Make plans.

“The MidWestern Playboys” will do a show at The Farewell Party Bar on Friday 17th. The band can really get the crowd on their feet. Music from 8pm til Midnite.

Dawn’s Diner will feature “The Wildhorse Band” on Sat. 19th. Expect awesome Country music from these guys. Dance Starts at 6 pm.

Muldrow City Limits will have “The Voice- Drake Hyde” on Friday 17th at 7pm. Then, Sat. 18th, “Oklahoma 59 South” will take the stage at 7 pm. Been hearing good thangs ‘bout this band. Check’em out!

That ain’t all that I got to say but it’s a good place to stop. Contact me by text, 918-649-5736 or tj.wiles61@outlook.com. Thanks for all the comments and prayers. They are appreciated.
