Ya know, I grew up with dawgs and cats always around. They earned their keep. Considered part of the family and either hunted to put food on the table OR keep the ratz outta the corn crib. But there wadn’t many housepets. So when I see comments about “Don’t leave your pets out side”, I do understand. AND I’ll drop a dime on any signs of animal cruelty. No water, no food or shelter. But they’re animals, I think God designed them for the Outside. So if ya think most don’t like the snow or can survive a cold night or two, just take a trip North of I-40 and watch the critters up in the real cold country. All I have to do for mine is spend a lil’ of my time preparing a safe place for them to eat, drink and sleep. Everything else is extra. This being said, my dawg slept in my lap for the last few nights. Just use common sense! Upcoming events-Another Pirate gathering with the “Old Dawgs” playing music at the Shop Dog Brewing Co. , 215 Dewey Ave in Downtown Poteau. More info next week but it’s on Sat. Feb 8th from 6-8pm. All the usual suspects will be joining Poss Adams, Larry Taylor and Ronnie Barber on stage. It’s always a lotta fun, good fellowship and entertaining. Make plans to be there.
Valentine’s Day can be special if ya take the 3rd Annual Nite Hike with your sweetheart. Clay Grant will be singing the love songs and there’s 3 different hikes suggested from real easy walking to a lil’ more difficult Runestone Hike. Friday 14th and Sat. 15th. Coffee and Treats provided by A Lil’ Country Charm. More info next week. The 2nd Annual Autism Awareness Benefit will be in March on the 22nd at The Rough Day Brewing Co. also in Downtown Poteau- 108 S. Witte St. The lineup of Live Music is awesome. I will highlight most between now and then. But I will say now that the bands and solos have
ganged up to put on a great show. I wanna start the fundraiser with the first $20 donation and see just how much that we can gather. I challenge all my friends , if ya got any amount please donate. I’ll have a way to pledge your donation next week. It’s a great cause and ya can stop by and enjoy the music.
The Riverfront Blues Society’s 3rd Sunday Blues Jam on Feb 16th. It’s on Sunday afternoon from 1-4:30pm. Lots of great blues musicians and singers. I know that you can hear Poteau’s Annie Kobus of The Red Dirt Blues Society of Eastern Oklahoma LLC , pickin’ and singin’ at this Jam. Annie posts a lotta good info and videos on her fb page. She has developed into a very solid guitar picker and has a great voice. Annie does all she can to promote Live Music on this fb page. Check it out and become a fan by becoming a friend. I need Feb. schedules from bands, solos and venues quick. Sure makes my life easier and helps keep your fans informed. Contact me on fb, text 918-649-5736 or tj.wiles61@outlook.com. “The Stagemasters”, my favorite Country band, will be at Muldrow City Limits on Sat Feb 1st. Big dance floor for the big crowds(100+). Good seats for all but if’n I was you, I would get there early. Music starts at 7pm.
My favorite all round band, “Rhythm Coalition” playing Red Dirt, Jazz, Soul, R&B and originals, will have a show at The Lower Feed Room at The Akins BBQ joint Sallisaw. These guys have a great show. And I hear the food is purty good, too. It happens Feb. 1st from 9-11pm. Just a few
miles North of Sallisaw on Hwy 101. “Movin’ On” will be playing it hot at Chuck’s Smokin’ Goat, just East of Tenkiller Lake on Hwy 100 on Feb, 1st. They are real close to Evening Shade, Ok. They got a Roadhouse attitude but it’s all fun and dancin’. Music from 9pm til 1 am.
