Well, Poss Adams always seems to get it started. So he made a call to Larry Taylor and Ron Barber. They reached out to other Pirate Alumni and on Friday 7th from 6-8pm, the Pirate Party will take place at the Shop Dog Brewing Co.- 315 Dewey Ave, Downtown Poteau. All the usual suspects will play and sing your favorites. Marshall Brence will be playing and I hear Billy Hoffman might sing a couple. Songs from the 60’s and 70’s, Red Dirt, Americana, Country, R&R, R&B, Soul and even a touch of Psychedelic. It’s open to the public, no cover, just a lotta fun. Hope ya can make it! Thx for the invite to sing a couple but I will have to respectfully decline. I have fallen into the “real” Old Dawgs category. Best left to sleep under the porch.
Keep your ear to the ground, listen for the sound, a new band in town, “The Dusty Holster Band”. James Zachary, Billy Wilson, Larry Hight and Roland Stevens. Can’t Hardly wait to hear them. Coming soon.
“Hillbilly Vegas” has been busy in the studio and in mixing a new album! It oughta be great. They also are scheduled for another circle at the Maid of Stone Festival in Kent, England later this year. And Lead Guitar- Stacy Thornburg just finished a week at the NAMM Show as a rep of Orange Amps. That’s quite an honor. So good things are happening to those that keep their nose to the grindstone.
Coming up on the 14th and 15th, if ya believe in love and Valentine’s Day, is the 3rd annual Valentine’s Night Hike. Take you sweetheart to the Heavener Runestone Park for an evening of Live Music and Campfires. Clay Grant will be playing the love Songs. There will be Coffee and Treats, long stem Roses and three hikes, easy to the loop down by the runestone. It’s from 6:30 til 9:30 pm. And there’s a small fee. Make this Valentine’s Day a special one.
The Ft. Smith Riverfront Blues Society will host the 3rd Sunday Blues Jam on Sun. 16th. It is in the Bakery District from 1 til 4:30pm. This is a real “Jam” with a sign up sheet, house band and a mix and mingle of some awesome musicians. Proceeds from donations go to support the Riverfront Blues Festival. Git yersef over dere and moan da blues!
Live Music this week- The 906 Lounge will have Billy Flash on Thursday 6th, 7-10pm, Don Bailey on Friday 7th, 8-Midnite, and Bordertown on Sat. 8th, 8-Midnite. Great lineup and a lotta extra fine music.
“The Stagemasters” will be at Dawn’s Diner/Red Oak on Friday 7th. This band is a favorite and will keep the dance floor full. Always good food and a good time to be had. Randy Fennell will be playing at the Ranch/Talihina on Sat. 8th from 6-8pm. The entertainment is grand and the vittles is good. Make plans to dine out and catch his show.
