Do you believe in Ground Hawg Day? The Easter Bunny? April Fool’s Day? Ya, I do too! Any of these good reasons for a party or a dance will do. But nothing, I mean Nothing, can itcha in mo’ trouble and pitched into the dawg house if ya fergit Valentine’s Day! Now, played right, it will place you in “Two Hearts Land” where Love blooms and ya spend time holding hands with your Sweetheart and looking deeply into each other’s eyes. But in my case usually, in 24 hours after the dance or til all the candy was gone, it was over in a flash. Love, Bah Humbug! So, I have more than one dance or party to give you advance notice. And go prepared with a song to request for that special someone. I suggest- Could I have This Dance for the Rest of my Life by Anne Murry or Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis or I Cross My Heart by George Straight or When You Say Nothing At All by Keith Whitley. Well, guys, you git it. There’s always a song that goes straight to their heart. Use it wisely!
The 3rd Annual Valentine’s Night Hike at the Heavener Runestone park will have perfect weather for a romantic stroll on Valentine’s Day 14th and Sat 15th. There are three suggested hikes from Easy, Short and Sweet to the one that takes a few more minutes on the lil’ longer and steeper Runestone trail. “Clay Grant” will be playing love songs to Zoe that you can share, live in the Amphitheater. Listen to a few, just enjoy Clay’s show. With a bonfire here and there, it will be a night of memories, take advantage of it.Oh ya, my friends Jennifer and her Sweetie, Steve, are the hosts.
Red roses and a glass of wine will do the trick. Friday 14th, “The Nikki Waters Band” will be singing and playing ‘bout Love at Uncorke’d. This is a special place to dine with that special someone. Nikki has quickly
become my favorite singer and handles a love song so smoothly that it sets the mood and creates that loving feeling. The a la carte menu will be crafted by Chef Jas. The evening will be one of love and memories. Music starts at 6pm.
Another Valentine’s Day Dance, Friday 14th, will feature a friend and long time favorite singer, Libby Starks. Her voice can be as sweet or as gritty as needed for the tune. Love will fill the air when “Libby and The Libby Starkes Band” take the stage at the Ft. Smith Senior Activity Center. Music starts at 7 pm. This is a potluck dinner nite so bring your favorite dish.
The Ministers of Love,”The MidWestern Playboys” will provide songs for you and your Sweetheart to dance the night away at Muldrow City Limits on Sat 15th. It will be quite a Valentine’s Day Party. Invite some friends and join in the fun. It all starts at 7pm.
“Make It a Double” will have a show on Sat 15th at La Heurta’s/Poteau. My good friends, Connie and Dave Abbott, are still in love and it shows in their music. So catch the first note at 7pm. Good Tex-Mex dinner with Awesome Country Music.
Friday 14th, the Valentine’s Day Dance at Dawn’s Diner/Red Oak will start at 6:30pm. After a great meal, you and your Sweetheart can dance to the sounds of “59 South”. Randy Fennell has two of the finest side-men in our area, Bubby Patterson and Hank McMurtery and a steady beat from Chris Wells/drummer so the music will be all Country Love. Make plans to be there. Pre-Valentine’s, Randy and Hank will play at La Heurta’s/Poteau starting at 6pm on Thursday 13th, Too!
“The Stagemasters” will be singin’ songs of Love at the Mighty Crab Seafood Restaurant on Sat. 15th. The band is Country and the place is at 5707 Rogers Ave. Ft Smith. Catch their show, music starts at 6pm.
Then, on Sunday 16th, The Ft Smith Riverfront Blues Society’s 3rd Sunday Blues Jam will be in the Bakery District. Awesome, authentic Ark. River low down Blues will be heard.
