The comforting and soothing sounds of John Prine singing Home-Grown t‘Maters come wafting on these warm Southern breezes lately. Now, don’t try to tell me that it ain’t crossed your mind. “You can go out to eat & that’s for sure-But it’s nothin’ a homegrown tomato won’t cure- Put ’em in a salad, put ’em in a stew- You can make your very own tomato juice/ Eat ’em with egss, eat ’em with gravy- Eat ’em with beans, pinto or navy- Put ’em on the site put ’em in the middle- Put a homegrown tomato on a hotcake griddle- Homegrown tomatoes- homegrown tomatoes- What’d life be without homegrown tomatoes- Only two things that money can’t buy- That’s true love & homegrown tomatoes”- Guy Clark. I think it’s high time to have Home-Grown t’Maters Festival this season. The Pocket Park in Downtown Poteau would be a perfect place. We could have judges- a t’Mater Queen and maybe next year a parade with marching bands and Live Music. I volunteer to be a judge. Think About it! By the way, I have an early plant in the ground. I am a dreamer but ya never know. And don’t forget about the Bokoshe Poultry Exchange on Sat. 22nd. With the price of eggflation, it would pay to have a few laying hens in the backyard or garage. It’s from 8-Noon in Bokoshe Park. Security WILL be tighter than a Presidential visit.

The Autism Awareness Benefit is coming up on March 22nd. It will be hosted by C.P.R.C. and “The Bards”. And thanks to the Rough Day Brewing Co. for supporting Live Music, family nite activities and several deserving charities. We do ‘preciate it

Let me mention the talent that will be showcased and are carrying on the tradition of giving their time and singing their songs for the benefit of a worthy cause. So please, anytime that ya see these musicians on the billboard support them as they are so generously showing support for a benefit.

Live Music this week: Muldrow City Limits gets first mention with the Fabulous Fifties Friday Dance on the 21st. With the dances, outfits and attitudes of “Grease” and a couple of Classic Fords and Chevys in the parking lot, if ya drive one. So pick up you sweetheart, throw back the rag top and twist your way to the Hop. “The Stagemasters” will provide the tunes to enjoy. It all starts at 7 pm.

Then Sat. 22nd, “Bricktown” will be singing your favorite dancing music. Great band outta Ft. Smith, they cover all the bases- Country to Rock. Perfect waterfall and Line dance tunes. So make plans to be at Muldrow City Limits on Friday 21st and Sat. 22nd at 7 pm. Git there early to git a good seat.

And for Awesome Country music, cut a trail to Red Oak and hear “The Wildhorse Band” at Dawn’s Diner. The only reason that ya don’t hear these guys play more is because Ricky Ward has a side-hustle with a ranch and cattle. There’s proof of the work that goes on ‘cause Cuzzin’ Trina sits in the pickup and takes videos of Ricky pullin’ calves and rescuing calves from icy ponds. So, the place to be for the Live Music done Country style is at Dawn’s Diner/Red Oak on Friday 21st at 6:30pm. See ya there.

Just over the Mt. and ‘cross the creek,”The Tribadours”will be playing Hillbilly Rock at Gibby’s Biker Camp and Dall’s Jalapeno Garden on Sat. 22nd. Take a slow ride thru the purtiest mts. in the country anytime on Sat. Grab a bite, a cool one and listen to the band. It’s open most of the day, the music starts at 6:30 and goes til the bear stops dancin’. Wander down and visit! Already getting info on outside events with Live Music scheduled. Balloon Fest, Crawdad boils and such. I’ll pass it along accordingly. Send me info- tag me on fb, text at 918-649-5736 or tj.wiles61@outlook.com.

And as always, that ain’t all that I got to say but it seems to be a good place to rein it in. Support Local bands, Live Music and help keep it alive and well. Thanks for all the loyal fans, cause without you it would just be another good practice nite. Bands need an audience.
