Mother’s Day is Sun. 11th! Don’t forget the cards and flowers. I only forgot one time and Buddy, that was ENUF! I don’t care if you’re sitting 1000 miles away with toes in the sand, an ocean breeze and a farmer’s tan, use the phone, facetime or skype- whatever. Call home. Happy Mother’s Day, Mama Wanda! Now I don’t know if that will get me by this year but I done got a purty card to hedge my bet!
Well, it just took 50 yrs.- 12 Albums- 29 hit singles, as much airplay on Rock Radio and thousands of miles of road trip jams as any Rock band in history, to get “Bad Company” inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Congratulations!
Now, I used that moment to remind all the Hillbilly Vegas fans that there’s a new tour of England and Scotland Festivals in July, new album, new single coming soon. A change in the band’s lineup in 2024 has a “Bad Company” element. Todd Ronning, bass player from 2012/2019, brings experience and creativity that shows in several moments in the songs on the (Still to be named) New Album. From what I hear, introductions to other songwriters and business agents thru Todd, HV has been able to learn more about the business of music and made some very beneficial friends along the way. Again, Hard work, perseverance and God given talent is paving the way to making their mark. Congrats guys! Sonwriter’s Showcase will be on Sat. 10th at the Shop Dog Brewing Co. on Dewey Ave. Downtown Poteau. It is hosted by Annie Kobus/singer/songwriter and guitar and starts at 6 pm. Annie has been trying to stir up interest ‘round Poteau for over a year and this may be the best effort yet. She also hosts the fb page-The Red Dirt Blues Society of E. Ok. Check it out for lots mo’ info. This loosely organized and enjoyable pickin’ is planned so each songwriter will have time to play and sing two originals. They will take the stage in no particular order until all have
participated and if time allows they will take another turn. It’ll be a great way to hear samples of the talent with words set to chords and brought with all the pain, passion, life and love from the artist that was inspired to put it on paper. Come down and support Live Music.
