Old friends and Horses and Watermelon Wine-Tom T. Hall It just shows to go ya, if ya stay around long enough, past good times will come back around. The bad times have either that the statue of limitations have runned out OR you have done a good 4th step on it.
I had a good moment pop up, McKay happened by and there was a “gitting the band back together” happening. NOW, it was just lunch, not a “Mourning After” reunion being planned. Mike, Jim Dunn and Dusty Klutts has a sitdown for a couple hours.Just a great visit. It was priceless. “Never miss a chance to spend times with long-time friends”- TJW
My lifetime off and on music career was spiced with experience in several states and over several decades. Free refreshments and better living thru chemistry blurred my memory of most engagements. But in 2009, that lifestyle changed and I got a chance to try and play sober and straight. It was skeery! “Backsliders Wine” came about in 2010? And Tammie Johnson and crew at the Coffee Cup put up with me, Reggie Wells and Randy Smith for several years. It was a blast. Our shows became a highlight on the social calendar in Poteau. Friends and family would half fill the Cup. I said all that to say this- “The Backslider’s Wine 2025 World Reunion Tour” will take place on Sunday 27th at 2pm. It will take place in the Shady Point Community Center. It’s a free event with VIP Backstage passes available that include pics with the band, autographed articles of clothing, green M&M’s- the whole concert experience. There’s only 1000 VIP passes so get yours today- they will be free at the door. Hope to see ya there!
“Hillbilly Vegas” will start-The Feels Good Tour- supporting the new “Feels Good” single and album(Vinyl, 8-track-cassette-CD) by streaming on your favorite platform soon. The 6 date tour includes 3 of the biggest festivals in England and Wales as an opening act, then as headliner in 3 of the biggest indoor venues. After several tours ‘cross the pond, the guys have established a huge fan-base and several chart hits. I predict this album will hit the top of the charts. Ck out “Feels Good”. Support “Hillbilly Vegas” and treat yourself to this awesome serving of Country Rock in Southern Rock style! Safe travels.

“The Tribadours” play their first of two shows in July at Shop Dog Brewing Co. on Friday 11th. This is a special niche for meeting friends, lunch, cold brews and ice tea on Dewey Ave. The custom brewing taproom offers more than just Live Music. There’s comedy, trivia, bingo nite, and Karaoke. “The Tribadours” bring a nice mix of rock, country and americana that’s perfect for the attentive audience. Catch their show at 6pm. THEN, “The Tribadours” will have a 6 pm show at Boondocks/Ft Smith on Sat. 12th. Another great venue for music and a meal. Make plans to be there.
My very favorite band that’s playing locally , “Rhythm Coalition” has been making their mark at JJ’s Grill/ Ft. Smith and Fayetteville. A very Hip audience that enjoys the eclectic mix of R&B, Red Dirt, Jazzy instrumentals, Blues and Soul. NO Disco- Don’t ask! This Friday 11th, they will be laying it down up North on Dickson St. Fayetteville from 8:30 til 11:30pm. On Sat. 26th, it will be at JJs in Ft Smith- 5400 Phoneix Extension. They kick off at 7pm. Git there and see what I mean. Become a fan.
My Mom, Wanda(92), still has a boyfriend, Raymond, and still goes dancin’ every Sat. nite at her favorite hall- Muldrow City Limits. This Sat. 12th, “Sidetracked” will be on stage. This five piece band has great vocals , fiddle and a steel guitar. Awesome dance band, biggest crowds and best dancehall. Be there and bring some friends!
Paden Baggett will be at Crocky’s Cafe/Hackett on Sat.12th from 6 pm. Paden plays a cool mix of his songs and some covers of current tunes. It’s a great show. Beat a trail to Hackett for a good meal and awesome music at Crocky’s.
One of my favorite country bands- “The Lawman Band” will make the music for the Friday 11th dance at the Ft. Smith Senior Activity Center on Cavanaugh Rd. They are popular here so expect a lotta dancers on the big floor. Great venue, NS/ND, just good clean fun. Grab a date and be there when it kicks off at 7pm.
“Sierra Bravo” will be playing a private Country club gig on Sat. 12th. So if you’re a member of Wolf Mountain, make plans on playing 18 and striking around for the party. “Sierra Bravo will be the band for the dance at The Poteau High School 2025 All Class Reunion on Labor Day Weekend. I’m really looking forward to it. Much more info later!
