Despite unexpected wet weather last weekend( I predicted Sunny and dry, Oh Well) The Poteau Balloon Fest had a great turnout. A lil’ duck and run for cover for a while Sat Afternoon, then back out on the midway, mudraces and Glow at sunset. Thanks to Soundscape Music Co. for providing the Live Music.

Two things will always get my attention! Live Music and BBQ! One of the most encouraging groups for school age kids, FFA, continues their education in life and farming skills. “Bids and BBQ” will have it all, Bids on livestock raised by the members, a Raffle, Live Music and BBQ, of course. All proceeds will go into the FFA to help the students. It will take place in the Reynolds Center on Nov 6th and the meal starts at 5:30. Nothing helps ensure the flow of food that provides tasty meals as an educated Future Farmer. Great cause, Dig Deep and help all you can. I am still wondering how they gonna git all them hawgs in the Reynolds Center.

My weather prediction this week is gonna provide a colorful ride South thru the Mts. to the Talihina Fall Foliage Festival. The leaves are beginning to turn and will be beautiful after a week of 40*-70* weather. Leave early and make Skyline Drive part of your day. The Fest will be on Friday Oct. 31st and Sat. Nov 1st. with 9 am-4pm both days. Arts and Crafts, Live Music, Games and food trucks will make this Free Family-Friendly event worth the drive. Make Plans to be there. Just ‘cross the Ark. River to the North of me, Sallisaw will host The Red Autumn Arts Festival on Friday 31st and Sat. 1st. Great place to learn or learn more on your string instruments. Catch his show every Friday in Nov.

In the ya just missed it part- “Wildhorse” played at La Heurta’s Mexican Restaurant last Sat. They band played their best stuff and then helped some others to get to have that moment on stage in a session of Open Mic. They started at 7 and the sign-up sheet was nearly full when I left at 9 pm. It was a blast. Lotta talented singers and a couple of high energy singers showed up. I hope it becomes a regular event. And I’ll have to sing for my supper next time. Ricky and Trina Ward done bought my supper. Watch here for the next one.
