Got another round of Cold and maybe frozen rain coming on Tuesday, 24th. The shelves at the stores will be empty of the necessities. Ya know like milk and toilet paper. I know a couple of friends that stockpiled a garage full of TP during “lockdown 2020” and still haven’t run out. Some of it’s way past the expiration date. Remember, Greed is one of the seven deadly. Those folks are why the rest of us were wishing that we had some old Mongomery Wards catalogs. Heck, even a True Grit would work. I remember when we had a two-holer out back of the house. Good thang we didn’t have cellphones in those days. One drop and it would be over. Sorry, my mind drifted. Now, back to music.

I write mostly about Live Music. Bands, venues, fundraisers, pie suppers and bigger events. But Karaoke needs a mention, too. There are chances to sing along on several nites in our area and it’s a good time. Yes, I’ll admit that I have done it. I just didn’t know what to do with my hands. And I sure didn’t look like Elvis or Tom Jones or Michael Jackson.

Everybody likes their turn in the spotlight.

So, the first Live Band Karaoke-Rock Star Fantasy took place at the Choctaw Casino-Pocola last Sat. night. It was a huge success! “Oreo Blue” with Don Bailey and Larry B. had a songlist that singers could use for their turn at the Mic. This All-Star band - Gary Hutchison/guitar, Steven Boudreaux/drums, Vince Turner/bass, Rick Endel/keys with Don Bailey/sax and Larry B./keys played for more than 20 singers. And for a room full of fans, friends, and family there to enjoy their efforts. Lots of videos on fb. I’ll post a few on my page. I will definitely give it a mention next time that will give you enough time to make plans to attend. Watch here for mo’ info.

Plans are in the works for another Pirate Party in early February. Date to be announced but I think it’s the 4th. In a great location at the Great Day Brew Company, 103 S. Witte behind Warehouse Willy's in Downtown Poteau. “Rearvue Mirror and Friends” will be playing from 5-8 pm. Food, Friends and craft brew all on the corner of Dewey and Witte. Soft drinks are available. Family Friendly. Watch here for more info.

Live Music this week. Dawn’s Diner has a great lineup of LeFlore Co. bands. It kicks off on Thursday 26th with “Make it a Double”. Dave and Connie Abbott play your favorite Country songs from 5-8 pm. Conveniently, just about suppertime! Then Friday 27th, “Rearvue Mirror” will play for the diners and dancers in the big room. They cover a lotta ground in song selection. You will enjoy their music. Sat 28, It’s Rock & Roll, baby! “Grannie’s Nightmare”, The hardest workin’, most interactive, Rootin’ Scootin’ band from Poteau will entertain ya. Get there early to get a good table. This band has a big fan base that always show up to party. Music from 6-10pm both nites.

Muldrow City Limits, just North of the Ark. River, has “Wess Moore”. It is easy to find at the 321 exit on I-40. It is family friendly and a NS/ND event. Music starts at 7 pm. Fort Smith Senior Activity Center on Cavanaugh Rd. will have a dance on Sat. 28th pending the completion of the remodeling. James and Carol invite you to dance to the sounds of “Country Vault”. If ya like Country with a fiddler and lots of harmony then you will love this band. Music starts at 7 pm.
