10-28-2020 Update Investigators have made another arrest in connection with Mashaney’s death. Rodney Neal Ritter, 58, of Poteau, was booked into the LeFlore County Detention Center late last night on charges of Accessory to Murder, Shooting with Intent to Kill, Possession of a Firearm after Felony Conviction, & Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with Intent to Distribute.

 

10-27-2020 Update:  Mashaney’s death was caused by a gunshot wound to the head.

Investigators have arrested Ike Issac Maniel Ritter II, 27, of Poteau. Ritter was booked into the LeFlore County Detention Center on charges of 1 st Degree Murder, 1st Degree Burglary, and Possession of a Firearm after Felony Conviction.

 

On 10-25-2020 Poteau Police and LeFlore County Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to 204 South Bagwell in the city limits of Poteau on a medical call of an unconscious male bleeding from the head. Paramedics transported the male (Billy Leroy Mashaney, 56, of Poteau) to Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center, where he later died.

 

An Investigator with the Oklahoma Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was contacted by EOMC, and Mashaney was transported to Tulsa for an autopsy. 

 

On 10-26-2020 the Police Department was contacted by the Oklahoma Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and was advised that elements of Mashaney’s death were suspicious.

 

Department Investigators, in conjunction with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, are currently investigating.
