Barling man injured when boat exploded on Lake Tenkiller Featured

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol were dispatched to scene of boating accident that occurred on July 2, 2017, at approximately 1:45pm on Lake Tenkiller, at the Chicken Creek Park boat ramp in Cherokee County.

 

According to the report a 1998 Tahoe Navigator, 21 ft in length, operated by Greg J. Bieker, 34, of Barling, AR. was attempting to start the boat at the boat ramp when the engine compartment sparked and exploded.

 

Bieker, was transported by Cherokee Nation EMS to Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa, where he was admitted with burn injuries to his back and leg.

 

A 12 year old juvenile male of Barling, AR was also transported by Cherokee Nation EMS to Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa where he was treated and released for burn injuries to his hand and leg.

 

The accident was investigated by Trooper Joseph R. Couch of the Marine Enforcement Division of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Trooper Gordon Chronister, Trooper Cody Cross, Cookson and Chicken Creek Fire Departments, and the Corps of Engineers Rangers.
