Bear not in the woods – but in a tree in Poteau

On Sunday June 30, 2019 the Poteau Police Department responded to a report of a bear in the area of South Saddler and Whitney in the city of Poteau.

Officers were able to locate the bear and keep it safely away from the public until the Department of Wildlife arrived.

Wildlife Officers were able to safely tranquilize the bear and transport it to a new home (away from town).
