A fatality collision occurred on June 13, 2020, at approximately 12:27 A.M. on SH78 one-tenth of a mile west of Yuba in Bryan County.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report a 2007 Infiniti driven by Beth Atteberry 27, of Cedar Hill, TX was eastbound on SH78, ran off the roadway to the right for an unknown reason, overcorrected and ran off the left side of the roadway striking a concrete culver and a tree. Atteberry was ejected approximately 15 feet. She sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. She was transported by Brown’s Funeral Home in Durant, OK. Medical Examiner Timothy Dwyer responded to the funeral home.

Atteberry’s passenger, Chaz Shugart 34, of Bonham, TX was transported by AirEvac to Medical City of Plano in Plano, TX and was admitted in stable condition with leg injuries.

Seatbelts were not in use by the driver, and it is unknown if in use by the passenger. The airbags deployed.

The accident was investigated by the Bryan County detachment of OHP Troop E with assistance from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit, Bryan County Sheriff’s Dept., Yuba Fire Dept. and Bryan County EMS.
