At their regularly scheduled meeting, held Tuesday, April 20, 2021, the CASC Board of Regents unanimously approved the implementation of competitive co-ed cheerleading on campus.

In February, Carl Albert received an approval letter from the National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) to add competitive co-ed cheerleading to the slate of Viking student activities.

“We will participate in NCA Cheer this fall, and move into NCJAA in the fall of 2022,” said Randy Graves, Vice President of Student Affairs. “We’re excited about the energy and enthusiasm this will bring to our campus!”

Carl Albert would be one of the first, if not the first, Oklahoma community colleges with a NJCAA-sanctioned competitive cheerleading squad.

“We believe there is a lot of support in our local communities for this type of program,” said Bill Nowlin, Vice President of Enrollment Management. “Anytime we can add life to our campus through student activities and events, it just adds to the overall student experience.”

Carl Albert is currently in the process of hiring a cheerleading coach.
