Carl Albert State College is excited to announce the launch of a brand-new degree program, cyber security. The program will be available to students in the fall 2021 semester. The new cyber security program is part of the academic initiatives associated with the Native American Serving Non-Tribal Institutions, or NASNTI, STEM Grant program. NASNTI is a federally funded program designed to create three new STEM Programs, Strengthen Math Support, and Strengthen STEM Support for CASC students. Services include free tutorial assistance in intermediate algebra and college algebra, work-force seminars, career assistance through job-board access.

“The addition of the cyber security program will provide a valuable training opportunity for our students- one they can apply immediately upon graduation,” said Marc Willis, Vice President of Academic Affairs. “The employment opportunities for an individual with a degree in cyber security are endless. One would be hard-pressed to find a field, in today’s world, that doesn’t require some form of digital security.”

Students choosing to enroll in the cyber security program will engage in such courses as networking, information security, computer operating systems, programming, and computer investigations and forensics. Fields of employment demanding individuals with degree in cyber security include banking, education, healthcare, retail stores and headquarters, tribal nations, hospitality, travel, and more.

“The demand for education and training among employers is here to stay, for the foreseeable future,” said Micky Solomon, NASNTI Project Director. “We are thrilled to, through this grant, be able to offer such quality education for our students with the promise of gainful employment following graduation.”
