Carl Albert State College has received a five-year $326,077 per year Upward Bound Math/Science (UBMS) Grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The grant will serve 74 participants with the grant office housed at the Poteau campus of CASC.
According to CASC TRiO Director Michelle White, this is one of several federally funded TRiO program grants at CASC. “We are excited to be able to continue this program at our Poteau Campus. We have seen firsthand that the services we offer through UBMS are valuable to the participants of the program.”
UBMS provides assistance to first generation and/or low income high school students as well as disabled students in their preparation for higher education. The Upward Bound Math and Science program is designed to strengthen the math and science skills of participating students. The goal of the program is to help students recognize and develop their potential to excel in math and science and to encourage them to pursue postsecondary degrees in math and science, and ultimately careers in the math and science profession.
CASC Mission Statement: To provide an affordable, accessible, and exceptional education that fosters student success.
