Ten Carl Albert State College student athletes have been honored by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Academic Student Athletes Awards Program for 2018-2019. The program highlights individual athletes across the country for their academic success based on grade point averages (GPA).

The following CASC athletes earned a 4.0 GPA and were selected to the NJCAA All-Academic First Team: Muniru Bah, Men’s Cross Country, International; Makaylee Wilson, Softball, Heavener HS; Makenzie Wilson, Softball, Heavener HS; Emily Yandell, Softball, Heavener HS.

 

Two CASC Lady Vikings softball team members earned a GPA of 3.8-3.99 and were selected to the NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: Whitney Jackson, Softball, Silo HS and Ayme Warren, Softball, Wister HS.

 

The following CASC athletes earned a GPA of 3.6-3.79 and were selected to the NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: Taylor Bates, Softball, Latta HS; Kaiden Jackson, Men’s Cross Country, Wister HS; Iris Martinez, Women’s Cross Country, Heavener HS; Vanessa Martinez, Women’s Cross Country, Heavener HS.

 

CASC Athletic Director Randy Graves stated, “We are proud to have student athletes who prioritize their education and work relentlessly to achieve their goals. The example they are setting for other Viking athletes, and for that matter all Carl Albert State College students, is outstanding.” He continued, “The commitment it takes to be successful in the classroom and as an athlete is tough; we are thrilled to celebrate this accomplishment with our students.”
