National Library Week will be celebrated across collegiate campuses from coast to coast during the week of April 9th through April 13th.

Carl Albert State College is set to host multiple events in the Joe E. White Library, Poteau campus, throughout the week.

On April 11th, Dr. Shawn Holliday, Associate Dean of Graduate Studies at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, is set to arrive on campus to facilitate a presentation and speak to CASC students.

Students will have an opportunity to hear Dr. Holliday’s presentation in the Joe E. White Library from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

“I have taken several graduate-level courses with Dr. Holliday,” said Susan Hill, CASC Fine Arts and Communications Instructor, “and am so excited to welcome him to campus to hear from our outstanding students.”
Dr. Holliday will also be serving as the final judge for CASC’s upcoming poetry contest.

“We are fortunate to have someone with significant expertise in Oklahoma poetry visit our campus and speak to our students,” said Terri Carroll, Director of Libraries for CASC.

Dr. Holliday has authored three books: Thomas Wolfe and the Politics of Modernism, Lawson Fusao Inada, and The Oklahoma Poets Laureate: A Sourcebook, History, and Anthology. In addition to be a literal creative, Dr. Holliday also serves as Professor of English and Director of the Master of Arts in American Studies program for NWOSU.

The library will continue its festivities by having a ‘Used Book Sale’ on April 12th and 13th. For more information please contact the CASC Library, Poteau campus, at 918-647-1311.
