Carl Albert State College’s Native Americans Serving Non-Tribal Institutions (NASNTI) and the CASC Student Oklahoma Education Association (SOEA) recently teamed up to host a workshop aimed at helping individuals succeed on the writing portion of tests required for Oklahoma teachers, including the OGET, OSAT, and OPTI.
Dr. Lara Searcy, English Education Specialist at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, shared with 15 education-majoring-students and advisors the strategies that aided her in making a perfect score on the writing portion of all three tests.
The workshop concluded with participants using Searcy’s model to construct outlines on sample prompts.
“I’m grateful for Micky Solomon and the NASNTI team for funding such an incredible opportunity. Our education majors are now more prepared, and our advisors can better equip these students for success,” said Susan Hill, CASC instructor and SOEA advisor. “The NASNTI program is in its fourth year at CASC and has been instrumental in providing services such as workshops, equipment, and academic coaching,” Hill continued.
