On April 11, 2018, students gathered in the Joe E. White Library to hear from regional author, Dr. Shawn Holliday.
With a captive audience of more than 25 students and several faculty members, Holliday delivered a presentation to the students and then announced the winners of the CASC poetry contest.
Nearly 20 entries were submitted for judging, the faculty from the Division of Communications & Fine Arts were challenged to narrow down their favorites for four finalists.
From there, Dr. Holliday selected the first, second and third place winners and selected an honorable mention winner.
The winners were as follows: first place, Darby Fowler. Second place, Gloria Evans. Third place, Curtsie Pace. Honorable mention, Jada Hunt.
All entries were later compiled in a publication titled, “AFTER DASH: Fresh Voices, Runestones 2018 Anthology.” A copy of this publication is available in the Joe E. White Library.
