Carl Albert State College is set to host a groundbreaking and naming ceremony for its new Hoffman-Wilson Center on Monday, June 3, at 9 a.m. on its Poteau campus.
The Hoffman-Wilson Center will serve the Poteau campus as a dual-purpose safe room and event center. The Center will be able to shelter up to 1,000 individuals in an emergency situation.
The Hoffman and Wilson families are avid champions of CASC and have a reputation of being strong community supporters.
Billy and Starla Hoffman, together with Tim Wilson and Kim Hoffman-Wilson, were inducted into the CASC Hall of Fame in 2017. The families have been long-time contributors of CASC’s Adopt-A-Scholar Program and the Gold Dust Gala.
The families’ philanthropic passion for CASC comes naturally as Billy and Kim’s parents, Bill and Jodi Hoffman, have been remarkable benefactors and supporters of CASC since the mid-1980’s. Billy and Kim also serve as CASC Development Foundation Trustee members.
The siblings, and their spouses, have continued to cultivate their family’s legacy as they run and operate their businesses JoB Construction Company, Inc., and The Purple Plume.
“With Oklahoma’s reputation for erratic weather,” said CASC President Dr. Jay Falkner, “our new Hoffman-Wilson Center will offer peace of mind to our students, faculty, and staff in the event of inclement weather.”
The security and integrity of CASC’s data system is a top priority for the college. The new building will include a data protection center and will serve as an integral component to CASC’s future success, said Dr. Falkner.
“We are extremely thankful and humbled by the continued support of the Hoffman and Wilson families, and of our Development Foundation,” Dr. Falkner continued. “The Hoffman-Wilson Center will offer unique opportunities for CASC to provide additional services to our campus and communities that range from internal events to community outreach projects. Our campus community is deeply appreciative for the continued growth and support of our college.”
